Hello! My name's Katherine Appleby, the owner of Cuppa~T. If you'd like to get to know a bit about Cuppa~T, there are probably a few things you should know about me first.
When I was very young, my grandma gave me a sip of her tea. Ever since then I have loved tea! And I still have it the same way my grandma did: "White and one". Now I could go as far as calling myself a "tea addict", except that I know that my passion for tea is not destructive! Rather, it is one of the healthiest beverages in the world!
I'm in my late twenties, and so far I've done a few different things... I completed school, completed a degree, completed a postgraduate diploma, and became a teacher and taught for a
while. Then I changed location, changed career paths, and went back to complete another degree and some more training. But throughout all these years, there are a few things that haven't changed: my passion for people, my passion for art and my desire to run a business that sees these passions combine. And so, inevitably, Cuppa~T was born.
Luckily for me, I share my tea passions with my family and
friends! And because of this, I didn't start Cuppa~T alone. It was over a year ago that my sister and I chose the name, Cuppa~T. Actually, it was mostly her creation - which makes it just that much more special! We felt Cuppa~T reflected on the Australian tradition of asking: "Would you like a Cuppa?" But to leave no one guessing, we made sure the titled specified 'T'. We also felt the name demonstrated the creative character of this brand. Oh, and see the little cup where the 'u' is in Cuppa~T? That was totally my sister's design, as well as the little "~" which if turned on its end looks like stea
m rising from your cuppa! (*Grins proudly*)! Did I mention that my sister, well really my whole family, are all quite creative! This creativity is just a small parts of what makes Cuppa~T different.
So my sister and I started Cuppa~T together. It didn't take long at all for us to realise that our desires are shared by many in the community, as Cuppa~T has very quickly become a very well-known and widely trusted name in Toowoomba and the surrounding region. Cuppa~T stands for high quality tea at an
affordable price, and it brings the best of the creative world and the best of the tea world together in one place.
And as for me, I will continue with my love affair for tea, for art, and for business (if I said "for people", well that would just sound wierd!). My dream is to one day have a great big gallery that's at the heart of community in many ways, that incorporates a teaching studio and, of course, incorporates the best tea house: Cuppa~T!
